Pack Trip - June 21-24, 2012
North Mountain Outfitter offers pack trips designed for the outdoor enthusiast, the cowboy/cowgirl at heart, those who love the outdoors, riding horses, cooking on the open fire, and sleeping under the open sky.
This trip creates the ultimate outdoor adventure done the western way! The adventure will take you in the known mountain range of Eilliot Knob of the George Washington National Forest. Live for a few days as it once was, while making memories that will kindle one's own life.
Guests will arrive here at the Ranch Wednesday evening, where you will enjoy dinner and meet the gang, and of course get a run down on what to expect for the next three days.
You will spend your first night in the bunkhouse, where you will be awakened the next morning by unfamiliar sounds or the wonderful aroma of freshly-brewed cowboy coffee.
After a hearty breakfast, you will meet your companion; the one that will be your closest friend fro the next three days; the one that you will learn to love... your trusted horse.
Once we get all saddled up, you will begin to the feel the goose bumps of being free and for a few days you will live the life of a cowboy. Your ride will take you into the back country stopping along the way for a trail packed lunch and travelling to the base camp, approximately 20 miles from the Ranch.
Once arriving at base camp, you will settle in and rest. Dinner will soon be on your mind. Canvas wall tents will soon be the smell and will accommodate you for your next two days, keeping you dry and comfortable. Campfires will stir the air with dinner close behind. Camp cook, "Cookie" will make sure everyone gets plenty of vittles you will never forget.
Next morning again breakfast and saddle up for a the next leg of the trip, Elliot Knob with an elevation of 4800 feet. At this stop, we will again have lunch, rest, and enjoy one of the premier areas of the Shenandoah Valley.
From there we will work our way out of the range to the second base camp. Next morning we will head back to the Ranch, arriving that evening where you will spend you last night in the bunkhouse. After breakfast, guests will make plans to head back to their real worlds, taking with them memories that will last a lifetime!
