Information

North Mountain Outfitter is a unique horse trail riding opportunity. We created this unique opportunity simply by offering a very different kind of riding for this area. First of all, none of the riding is on pasture or open farm land. All riding is on mountain trails and can include an overnight experience not offered by any other trail riding businesses in this area. In order to make the rides safe and enjoyable for everyone we have to make certain restrictions on riders.

For all rides, the age limit is 10 years of age, unless the rider has 1-2 years previous riding experience.

For all riders there is a weight limit of 245 lbs. These limits are necessary for the safety of the rider as well as the safety of the horse. Upon arrival, if your weight is questionable, you may not be permitted to ride at the discretion of our guides.

We are riding on a variety of mountain trails ranging from flat ground to moderate inclines as well as crossing water. There will be certain times that we walk for a while in order to rest the rider as well as the horse. For the novice rider, you will soon understand these periods of rest. Our goal is that everyone has an enjoyable and safe ride.

Riders must arrive at North Mountain Outfitter at 9:00 am for all rides.

What to Bring

Riders will need to bring clothing for the season, temperatures will vary as much as 10 to 15 degrees, depending on which trail head we use. We will ride rain or shine, unless safety is a factor. Riders should bring a raincoat, jacket, hat, gloves, and shoes that are comfortable. No open-toed shoes, flip flops, or sandals. On overnight stays, riders should bring appropriate clothing and personal effects. If staying in the bunkhouse, remember to bring a bathing suit for the hot tub and in base camp, a sleeping bag.

Policy

For safety reasons, North Mountain Outfitter does not allow riders to bring their own horses, unless there is a clinic or training seminar scheduled. All rides are by reservation only, but individuals may check availability as late as the day before their intended ride for openings.

Smoking or the drinking of alcohol is prohibited during all rides. Some of the trails will require us to trailer the horses and riders to trail heads, all of which will be provided by North Mountain Outfitter. Riders will be given safety and riding instructions and must be able to demonstrate the ability to control the horse and be of their own physical ability to ride. Each rider will be required to sign a liability risk release agreement.

All rides are by reservation only, with a 50% deposit. Deposits are not refunded but may be applied to another day should you not make the scheduled date within 48 hours notice of cancellation. A no-show results in forfeit of your deposit. Group cancellations must be made 7 days in advance. All rides leave promptly and any late arrivals without notification may result in forfeit of deposit.
